Aimed at

Staff and volunteers who work with clients, user groups and members of their organisation who may potentially present a drugs related issue.

Course description

Would you know what to do if you suspect a member had drugs on them? Would you know if you had the right to confiscate drugs? What would you do with them if you did? Does your organisation have a policy?

Course content

·        Basic understanding of the law

·        How to spot the signs of drug use

·        What policies and procedures you need in place in your organisation

By the end of the sessions, delegates will be familiar with:

·        How attitudes can impact on professionals ability to work effectively with drug/alcohol users.

·        The most commonly misused drugs, including their street names and legal status.

·        The effects of misusing drugs and alcohol.

·        Engagement techniques

·        National treatment agencies and help lines
