About Us
North Kent Training Service
Is the training arm of CVS Medway. We were set up in 2004 to deliver training to the Voluntary and Community Sector across North Kent.
We offer quality training on a wide range of subjects. Our trainers are all fully qualified to teach adults and are registered with the Institute for Learning.
The service was originally funded by The Learning and Skills Council with European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Fund. To ensure delivery was effective in all three areas of North Kent, CVS Medway (lead partner), North West Kent CVS and Swale CVS joined forces. The 3 year project ran successfully to its conclusion in 2007.
This was not the end of the story. Further funding was allocated by the LSC due to the huge success of the previous 3 years, allowing the project to continue to 2008, supporting further full qualifications.
We have been ranked highly by the LSC and have met or exceeded targets in all our endeavours.
Since 2004 up to July 09 we have provided training for over 4000 people including over 500 full level 2, 3 and 4 qualifications and since 2006 we have been an apporved OCN Centre
In order to sustain this project we have had to tap into funds that are not specifically for training this sector and have had to open up our training to other sectors in order to generate income.
For example, we have managed Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities projects, partnering with a wide range of partners, which has meant offering training targeted at unemployed people. We have also delivered training under Urban (community chest) and work for Gateway Knowledge Alliance.
All this does help to keep the training programme for the VCS viable.
